Message from Regent:

June 2021

Greetings and welcome to the Vermont Catholic Daughters of the Americas!  It is my hope that you will learn a little about our very special organization.

Formed in 1903, The Catholic Daughters of the Americas is one of the oldest and largest organization of Catholic women. CDA started in upstate New York and today has Courts throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam, The Virgin Islands, Kenya and Peru.  The first Vermont Court was instituted in 1912. Court Isabella #173 in Fair Haven is now celebrating their 109th anniversary. We have a long, wonderful history.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas consists of independent courts. Each court, including the State Court, operates under the jurisdiction of the National Court and follows those rules and regulations. Each court also has its own bylaws and operates independently.

Prayer is essential to our CDA meetings. We are spiritual women. Our motto is: In Unity and Charity. We gather strength from our love of God and with our sisters in Christ, we are emboldened to do spiritual and corporal works of mercy.  Our model is Our Blessed Mother.

We are involved in many church and community activities and extend our charity throughout the state.  A recent project was a “sock challenge” where we collected 3,000 pairs of socks which were donated to different charities.

I hope that this perks your interest and that you will check us out.

God Bless!
